What you Need to Know

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

BUSHFIRE

Cardinia Shire Council strongly recommends that if events are held during the fire danger period that contingency plans, including alternative dates be developed and included with the risk assessment.

The Operations During Bushfire Season Policy was adopted in December 2009.  This policy has determined that all Council owned facilities in the declared Fire Prone Areas on days of Code Red (catastrophic) fire danger will be closed to the public, including facilities that are owned by Council but managed by Section 86 Committees of Management, including Recreation Reserves.  On such day’s funded events in these facilities must be cancelled.  Applicants need to ensure that this is taken into consideration in the submission of an application and demonstrate this in the completion of the risk assessment, question 17.

Further, Cardinia abides by the CFA recommendations in relation to Extreme fire danger days.  In this respect council believes that non-essential travel to fire prone areas be deferred.  Therefore Council recommends seeking advice from the CFA prior to the event day.

 SECTION 86 COMMITTEES

Section 86 Committees should note that applications will not be accepted from subcommittees that have not been approved by Council.  All proposed activities must fit within the delegated role or function of the Section 86 Committee

Council has limited funding available under this grants program and in cases where you are funded to a lesser amount than sought you may receive a preliminary offer, at which point you will be required to resubmit a revised budget and variation regarding the event you will be able to deliver. Council may also specifically note those items that it agrees to fund or not fund.

Please note there are some types of events that this grant will not support.  Please use the list below as a guide to identify events that Council will support.  If you tick any of the boxes in the left column, activities that Council will not fund, you may need to reconsider the eligibility of your event or alternative funding opportunities.  Please contact the Grants Officer if you have any questions.
