The aim of the Cardinia Shire Council Beautification Program is to provide community groups and individuals with funds for landscape enhancement projects on areas of Council managed public open space within the Shire.
You are invited to participate by completing this application and submitting it by Tuesday 29 April 2025. Projects must be located within Cardinia Shire and finished by 29 April 2026
Individuals and community groups can apply for funds for landscape enhancement projects.
All projects will be funded on a matched funding basis: $1 from Council and $1 from the applicant, to a maximum grant of $2,000 (including GST). You can match the amount requested with the cost of labour used for preparing the site, planting, and ongoing maintenance.
The grant covers the purchase of plants and garden materials such as stakes, tree guards, and mulch. Other items such as park furniture and equipment are a lower priority.
Project must be complete and all required information submitted to Council before 30 June 2024. Grant recipients are required to submit a project completion form, all receipts, and photos of the project.
What we will fund
Priority is given to projects that:
- are driven by community groups and easily achieved within the required timeframe
- improve the appearance of green, public open space on Council owned or managed land
- are located in areas used frequently by the public such parks, recreation reserves, town centres, and around Council buildings such as community centres and halls
- are in line with priorities identified in township strategies, landscape master plans, and other strategic Council documents.
What we will not fund
We will not fund grants for:
- projects requiring a vegetation removal permit or where funds may be obtained from other sources
- projects that do not meet the main objective of the beautification grant
- projects that are complex or expected to go beyond the required timeframe.
- Recipients who currently have Shire Beautification grants yet to be completed.
Land not managed by Council
If the project is going to take place on land that we do not manage, you must get permission from the relevant land manager, for example VicRoads, VicTrack or the Crown Land Department, and submit this approval with your application.
